“Design Stages & Services"

Entering into a building project is complex & there are many stages that require professional input & judgement. The NZIA (The New Zealand Institute of Architects - AAS 2018) & CIC Design Guide Lines (NZCIC Design Guidelines) provides guidance on typical design services offered by the Architect or Designer. This relates to Private Clients, Developers & House Builders to ensure all stages of the design process are considered & agreed. All projects require varying levels of service, therefore depending on the design complexity & scope of work, not all design stages will be required.  Below is a summary of the common design stages:

1. Project Establishment

2. Concept Design

3. Preliminary Design

4. Developed Design

5. Detailed Design

6. Procurement

7. Contract Administration

8. Post - completion
